Clemens has more than 25 years’ experience in industrial businesses. He started his career at BASF Group in 1989 where he held various management positions over the years, including head of their global Styrenics business and a 3 year assignment in Brazil. He was appointed as Group Vice President in 1998.
He has also held senior positions with global chemical company DyStar as chief executive officer. In 2008 he started his four year tenure as chief executive officer of global packaging company MAUSER.
Clemens joined Mondi as chief executive officer of the Packaging Paper business in 2013 and was appointed as World Containerboard Organisation chairman in 2016 and acts as vice chairman of CEPI Containerboard since 2014.
He is of German nationality and holds a PhD degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen (CH). He is married and father of five children.
