Steve Voorhees



Steve Voorhees is chief executive officer of WestRock, a leading provider of differentiated paper and packaging solutions and one of FORTUNE’s World’s Most Admired Companies. Prior to his current role, Steve was chief executive officer of RockTenn. He also served in various executive leadership roles with RockTenn, including president and chief operating officer, chief financial officer and chief administrative officer.

Since joining RockTenn, the company has grown from $1.5 billion in sales in fiscal year 2000 to $16 billion in sales in fiscal 2018. The market value of equity of the company has grown from $300 million in 2000 to over $15 billion in 2018. Total shareholder return has grown at an annual compound rate of 18.8% as compared to 5.6% for the S&P 500.

Since the merger of MeadWestvaco and RockTenn created WestRock as a $15 billion company in 2015, WestRock has completed nine acquisitions, the spin-off of its specialty chemicals business, the sale of its dispensing business and the sale of the majority of its land and development assets.  These portfolio actions have focused WestRock’s business on paper and packaging. WestRock now employs over 45,000 people and is one of the leading paper and packaging companies in the world.

Steve is a member of the board of directors of WestRock, SunTrust Banks, Inc., the National Association of Manufacturers, the American Forest & Paper Association and the US-China Business Council. He is chair of the Paper and Packaging Board.
