Ricardo “Rick” Schiappacasse joined JAXPORT in Nov. 2013 and is Director, Forest Products and Specialty Cargo Sales. In this role, he is responsible for strengthening relationships and attracting new business in the areas of breakbulk, forest, fresh and frozen, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes, as well as growing trade between North Florida and Latin America.
He is a veteran maritime professional with over 45 years of industry experience, including 22 years with the Maryland Port Administration. Most recently he served as Director of Latin America and the Caribbean while also overseeing forest product cargo for the Port of Baltimore. Rick has held positions with Maersk, Mediterranean Shipping Co., other steamship lines and maritime-related agencies.
Rick is active within trade and transportation professional organizations and is Past International President for the International Propeller Club of the United States, responsible for 44 U.S. Ports and 33 International Ports. He has also served on the International club’s Board of Directors for more than 15 years. He also serves as a Board member at the Port of Jacksonville Chapter.
